Estimates for reference and education only
The calculators and content on CoverageMath are provided for general informational and educational purposes only. They produce estimates, not determinations. Nothing here is insurance, tax, legal, financial, or medical advice, and using this site does not create any professional or advisory relationship between you and CoverageMath.
Official amounts are set by others
Your actual premium tax credit, eligibility, deduction, premium, or Medicare surcharge is determined by the responsible official body — HealthCare.gov or your state Marketplace, the Internal Revenue Service, or the Social Security Administration — based on your verified information. Those determinations may differ, sometimes significantly, from any estimate shown here. Always confirm with the official source before acting.
Why estimates differ from official results
- Some inputs (especially benchmark Silver-plan premiums) use clearly-labeled state-average approximations rather than your exact county and plan year.
- Your eligibility can depend on facts we don't ask for (immigration status, access to other coverage, household-composition details, special rules in your state).
- Tax and insurance rules change, and figures are updated on a periodic basis — see each page's "last verified" date.
- You may enter estimates for income or premiums that differ from your final, verified figures.
Consult a professional
Health-coverage, tax, and Medicare decisions can have large financial consequences. Before making one, consult a licensed insurance agent or broker, a qualified tax professional, or a financial advisor, and verify any number with the official body. This is especially important when an estimate is close to a threshold — such as the 400% subsidy cliff or an IRMAA bracket — where a small difference changes the outcome.
Data sources and update cadence
We source year-dependent figures from primary government publications and record a verification date with each. See our methodology for the specific sources behind each calculator. We aim to update figures promptly after the responsible body publishes them, but we do not guarantee that every figure reflects the latest change at every moment.
